You Will Need a Tummy Pillow

You’ll need a tummy pillow – Hysterectomy Recovery Tip

You’ve probably heard from other women about the need for a tummy pillow after your hysterectomy. But you may wonder “why?”.

The tummy pillow is used from the first day, supporting your abdomen when you cough or sneeze. You place it between you and the seatbelt on your ride home from the hospital. In bed or lounging on the couch, you will use this pillow to support your tummy as you lay on your side.

In other words, the tummy will be your constant companion for a while. It comforts and protects your tummy.

We’ve added a pocket to the tummy pillow to hold a cold pack. This provide extra comfort with an ice pack against your tender, swollen incision.

Our customers love the Pocket Tummy Pillow. We think you will, too!

Stool Softener Keeps Things Easy

Stool Softener keeps things easy – Hysterectomy Recovery Tip

Anesthesia often slows up our digestive system. The anticipated first BM after surgery is scary. Your bowel movements may be sluggish, dry or non-existent. What’s a gal to do after hysterectomy?

Be prepared! Have stool softeners ready. After surgery, drink plenty of water and take stool softeners as an option to get back on schedule. Although you should rest and let your body heal, walking is important to get your intestines moving again.

Make sure your diet is full of fiber. Drink prune juice and apple juice. Eat foods rich in fiber like bran muffins and whole grains.  You know the drill!
